The Fiio E9 Desktop Headphone Amplifier with E7 Dock is designed to work with the Fiio E7 USB DAC Headphone Amplifier and USB soundcard. It features dual-channel power outputs for both 1/4" and 1/8" headphone plugs, as well as an additional RCA L/R audio output, USB interface and line input. The amplifier features a Texas Instruments main power amp integrated circuit with a low noise level, low distortion and a high conversion rate.The E9 is cleverly designed with an E7 dock for using the line out signal from the Fiio E7 docking port. This provides better sound quality and makes the amp able to drive high impedance or low sensitivity headphones - giving you the clarity and punch to make your music sound alive and vibrant. Plus, it lets you charge and sync the E7 with your computer as well. The E9 even has a Low/High gain section switch, LED power indicator and a built-in power converter to meet the demands of high dynamic signal processing.

I have been shopping for a desktop amp ever since but could not pull the trigger as every amp I tried for under $300, either distorted the sound from the headphones or it did not have enough power to drive them. There were a few amps I really liked in the $300-1000 dollar range but had difficulty in justifying spending that kind of money. I already own an E5 amp and use it when traveling to add some power for my Senn HD590's. I was impressed with that little guy that cost me $22 and nearly sounds as good as the bithead with the 590's (the E5 does not come close to driving the 650's properly and now that I have the E9 neither does the bithead portable) so I put the E9 on my wishlist for the holidays and Santa delivered it on Christmas morning.This amp is fantastic and rivals a couple of the $500 desktops I have auditioned in the past. The headphones sounded great with both of the units, however I still wasn't that satisfied with the headphone. I eventually purchased the FiiO E9 headphone amp and I now realize both of those receivers were not properly driving the phones. They truly sound amazing now and I feel their price tag is finally justified. I really can't believe how such an inexpensive item can make these phones sound, but it honestly is an outstanding unit at an even more amazing price. |
